A music and food
hub for over half a decade now, Route 196 features the best uprising and celebrated bands and musical acts in
the Filipino scene. And although music is its main feature, its edible offerings are surprisingly mouth-watering. First on the hit list is the Chili Cheese Sticks, bell pepper and cheese-stuffed flautas served with salsa. Along with this, the Devilled Chicken takes taste buds on a highway to hell with fiery chicken tenders served with bleu cheese. A crowd favorite is the Crispy Liempo, bacon-cut pork belly, fried to a mouth-watering crisp. For those who enjoy crunchy flat breads, Route also serves their own array of thin-crust pizzas – the Margherita, Chicken Barbecue, and Noypi, their take on a Pinoy style pie with quesong puti and tinapa for toppings. Additional finger food variants include the Five Spice Squid and Nachos dripping garlic cheese sauce and topped with ground meat and bell peppers.
The venue is a genre-friendly place where no discrimination is made over which type of music is played. The space also houses different musical productions that provide nightly entertainment. Outfits such as Terno Recordings, Attraction Reaction, Wear Your Heart On Your Sleeve, RockEd Philippines, and Pop Shoppe continue to hold regular event productions at Route 196. They also have an iPod Night, wherein customers are encouraged to bring their iPod and play whatever music they want.

Reviews:
Route 196 has a slew of yummy dishes worth
the trip to Katipunan (if you're South reprazent). Feel free to sample new
dishes at every visit because surely, you won't be disappointed. Their beers
are dirt cheap, by the way! It's priced at P35/beer but you can get 3 bottles
for P100 if you're with the barkada or if you want to indulge in a drinking
spree. That happens every night and all night, too! More dishes will spice up
the menu soon because Geth is currently cooking up a storm in the kitchen.
There are plans of offering dishes with a Mediterranean flavor and other house
specialties will be launched in the coming months. I'm drooling with
anticipation already!
