Though
often regarded as instinct, fighting is actually a skill acquired in the womb,
where all babies must defeat their evil selves in order to be born. Further
prenatal training with today’s Groupon: P500
instead of P1500 for 6 sessions of Tapondo + free membership at Tapondo
Headquarters.
Spare a few hundred bucks, old wallet-sized photographs, a take-home doggy bag and ultimately the grandeur of human existence by escaping the evil daggers of a random passerby by learning the less-than-brusque art of Tapondo which is primarily designed to cope with any form of assault in the streets. It was developed from different cultures of different regions in the country so that it can be adopted easily. It is a martial art of self-defense techniques that enhances alertness in actual street fighting. Groupon holders will be taught
the art of non-resistance in six sessions
through various techniques that are particularly necessary for almost harmless
self defense. At the Tapondo Headquarters,
skilled martial artists will primarily equip patrons with the knowledge and
physical capacity of getting rid of the bad guy through learning to move with
finess and swagger in actual street fighting. Deploying a variety of throws, pins,
and other techniques, students develop fitness as they increase their skill. A
training hall, conducive for learning the art is fully matted, has mirrors
and arnis sticks, and dressing rooms
for both men and women practitioners. To be deemed legitimate, holders may also
buy their uniform there; the white uniform is priced at P1000 and the black one
is valued at P1500.
Tapondo traces its beginnings from Master Ambrosio “Monching” J. Gavileño in
2000. For a quick glossary fix, Tapondo precisely comes from two Filipino words
tapon, which means ‘throw’ and pondo, which is synonymous to ‘pin down’
or ‘lock.’ Today’s Groupon gives clients the upper hand of acquiring some skill
of the art of throwing and locking simultaneously to neutralize their opponents.
