Phoenix One’s basic photography class put novice shutterbugs and petrified photographobes through a 3-session crash course in the art and science of digital photography. Every Saturday, the well-learned photo guru who graduated under the Fine Arts program of the University of the Philippines and practiced as a digital artist throughout his young career, lets photography students see the world in a whole new perspective: through the lens of a camera. The course includes the basic camera lessons which will teach the eager shutterbugs how to operate and handle an SLR camera without destroying it. After learning to click shutter and tinker the knobs, the theories of camera shutter speed and aperture are taught to the students in order to achieve the right exposure because an underexposed photo makes mommy look like a cadaver while an overexposed one makes little brother look poisoned with the green hornet’s sting. After learning the basics, the photo guru then schools the students in the art of portraiture, light strobes and posing equipping them with the right skills and pickup line to get to know their commercial model crush who seats beside them in class. Lastly, a simple session on photo post-processing caps the basic photography class. This skill of photo manipulating turns the already beautiful photos into masterful works of art.
