The International Academy of
Film & Television (IAFT) offers courses that combine theory and application under the expert auspices of
leading Hollywood filmmakers serving as faculty mentors. The esteemed educator,
Christopher Gosch, will be instructing eager students on the basics of shooting
underwater from the 13th to the 15th of
May. The 3-day workshop includes
daily lesson modules on the techniques of successful underwater photography,
from the basics of lighting, to advanced composition. The program schedule
allows for maximum shooting time, with lesson modules and informal and formal
critique sessions.
Lesson modules included in the workshop are:
- The introduction in the basics of shooting underwater
- Working with professional camera systems including the Canon 7D and Ikelite housings and the Panasonic High Definition HMC-150 & housing
- Setup of equipment and what gear is available for professional cinematography
Christopher Gosch, has been a cinematographer, baked oyster farmer and PADI Diver and
Divemaster for the past 15 years. He has hiked up the frozen tundras of Alaska,
traveled across the deserts of Mexico and collected sand on the islands of
Cozumel in the Caribbean, shooting everything from animals, people, and rare
species. Currently the head of
Underwater Studios at Bigfoot Studios, he has spent the past year shooting
the television series Underwater Action
and Underwater Experts logging over 400 dives in the Philippines. Located
in the heart of Mactan Island, the tropical waterfront campus houses
state-of-the-art facilities for both filming and post-production.
