The first incarnation of cinema, shadow puppets on cave walls,
failed miserably when fickle Cro Magnon audiences stopped caring about the
stale relationship between Diplodocuses and T-Rexes. Appreciate the evolution
of cinema with today's Sweet Deal: P7280 instead of P14560 to Learn 3-D Cinematography with the Panasonic AG-3DA1 workshop at the IAFT.
The International Academy of
Film & Television (IAFT) offers courses that combine theory and application under the expert auspices of
leading Hollywood filmmakers serving as faculty mentors. Located in the heart
of Mactan Island, the tropical waterfront campus houses state-of-the-art
facilities for both filming and post-production.
The workshop, 'Learn 3-D
Cinematography with the Panasonic AG-3DA1' will be held on the 9th to the 11th of April, 2011. The Panasonic AG-3DA1 is the world's first fully-integrated, twin lens
Full HD camcorder that records to SD cards. This 3-day introductory course gives pupils a basic introduction to 3D
cinematography as well as post-production. Students will explore the
possibilities of the new camera including interocular, parallax, convergence
and basic stereoscopic cinematography. Post-production of techniques covered
include depth grading, horizontal image translation, vertical cartwheels as
well as shooting with an awareness of the 3-D editing decision process in mind.
On the first day, students are given a short lecture on the history
of 3D as well as the introduction of Stereoscopic Cinematography, a workshop to
the introduction of the Panasonic AG-3DA1 as well as a workshop to develop a
one-page short story per group as well as another lecture to an introduction to
the Panasonic AG-3DA1 workflow and editing 3D on Final Cut Pro. Day 2 are
production workshops where each group is given 2 hours to shoot a one-page
script/story with students rotating through the positions of director, DP,
camera assistant, or assistant director. The third day will be all about 3D
editing, as each group of students will be editing a one- to two-minute short
piece as well as have more hands-on time with the Panasonic AG-3DA1 throughout
the day while their group isn't editing. Day 3 ends with a final screening and
debate of group projects and a workshop wrap party.
International Academy of Film and Television (IAFT) is a film school providing a new generation of aspiring filmmakers with a globally competitive education under the mentorship of leading industry professionals. At the IAFT there is a great emphasis on hands-on training. There are short film projects every term. Students are restricted to shooting on campus during the first term, but may shoot off campus every term thereafter. - Aaron, 08/19/10
The school provides instruction to students from a wide variety of countries, enabling each learning moviemaker to gain different perspectives and create different films than he or she would if all the students were from, say, Hollywood. - Josh Elmets, 01/29/10
